Figures of Speech
Set design

2026,
Various theatres, GRIP & Femke Gysellinck

In her latest creation, Femke Gyselinck collaborates with her brother, the musician Lander Gyselinck. The pair previously collaborated on the 2016 show Flamer, in which they reversed roles with Femke acting as drummer and Lander as dancer. This time, the seven dancers and four musicians each set the rhythm for their own discipline.

For the sixth collaboration between Femke Gyselinck and Aslı Çiçek, the scenography for this piece has been designed to deliberately take a step back to give space to the performers on stage. The dance floor is occasionally illuminated by the glow of the moving bodies as they move across the few blotches spread over the podium. The dancers are bathed in an eerie light from the floor, created using car-wrap foils with a holographic effect.
