Opening: Ossip Zadkine and Belgium

30.10.2026

Exhibition design, Antwerp / BE

The exhibition Ossip Zadkine and Belgium opens at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) on 31 October 2026, with exhibition design by Aslı Çiçek. Bringing together sculptures, works on paper and archival material, the exhibition explores the sculptor's artistic development and his close relationship with Belgium. After Donas, Archipenko & La Section d'Or and Magritte: La Ligne de Vie, both designed for KMSKA in 2025, this is another project that the museum and Çiçek's studio worked on together.

Bringing together sculptures, works on paper and archival material, the exhibition explores the sculptor's artistic development and his close relationship with Belgium. Although Ossip Zadkine (1888–1967) became internationally renowned as a leading figure of the Parisian avant-garde, Belgium played a significant role in the early development of his career. Belgian collectors, gallery owners and fellow artists were among his first supporters. Through more than a hundred works, the exhibition traces these connections and presents Zadkine's expressive sculptural language alongside works by his wife Valentine Prax and artistic contemporaries.

Curated by Véronique Van Passel, the exhibition runs from 31 October 2026 to 18 April 2027. It is organised by KMSKA in collaboration with the Musée Zadkine, Paris Musées.
