Artist Shezad Dawood talks about his new commission included in Risquons-Tout, his self-confessed obsession with architecture and his focus on the legacies of non-western Modernism. He speaks with Aslı Çiçek, about the practice of designing exhibitions, exploring how research can be transformed into art.

This conversation will take place online, moderated by WIELS senior curator Zoë Gray.

Shezad Dawood (°1974, London) lives and works in London. His recent exhibitions were hosted at Bluecoat, Liverpool (2019); MOCA, Toronto (2019); Kunstverein, Munich (2019); Rubin Museum of Art, New York (2018); and Fondazione Querini Stampalia, Venice (2017). His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions including at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (2016); Taipei Biennial (2014); Marrakech Biennial (2014); MACBA, Barcelona (2014); Witte de With, Rotterdam (2013); Busan Biennale (2010) and the Tate Triennial: Altermodern (2009), among others. Several books have been published about his works, such as Making New Time by Omar Kholeif (2019) and Kalimpong - Shezad Dawood by Camilla Palestra (2016).
